Student Wellbeing
Curriculum - Philosophy and Approach
Social and emotional wellbeing is the foundation of academic success. At St Patrick’s, we nurture confident, resilient and self-aware learners, enabling them with skills for success, now and in the future.
Positive Behaviour Support
At St. Patrick’s Primary School, we believe in promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. That’s why we have implemented the Positive Behaviour Support program, which focuses on promoting positive behaviour, reducing problem behaviour, and creating a school culture that supports student success.
Our Positive Behaviour Support program uses a proactive, whole-school approach to promoting positive behaviour and addressing any behaviour challenges that may arise. With a focus on teaching positive behaviour, creating clear expectations and rules, and providing consistent and fair consequences for misbehaviour, our program is designed to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Whether it’s through our Positive Behaviour Support program or our other Wellbeing initiatives, we are committed to supporting the social and emotional development of our students and creating a safe and supportive school community. At St. Patrick’s Primary School, we believe that when students feel safe and supported, they are able to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Social & Emotional Learning
At St. Patrick’s Primary School, we understand the importance of wellbeing and social and emotional learning for our students. That’s why we have developed a comprehensive Wellbeing program that focuses on helping students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes they need to thrive in life. Our program includes the Respectful Relationships program, which teaches students about positive relationships, respect for others, and how to navigate social and emotional challenges.
Our Wellbeing program is designed to support students in developing a positive sense of self, strong social and emotional skills, and an understanding of healthy relationships. Through a range of activities, discussions, and practical exercises, our students learn how to manage their emotions, build strong and respectful relationships, and make positive choices for their wellbeing.
Whether it’s through our Respectful Relationships program or our broader Wellbeing program, we believe that investing in the social and emotional learning of our students is essential to their success and happiness. At St. Patrick’s Primary School, we are committed to providing our students with the tools they need to succeed in life, both academically and emotionally.
Peaceful Kids
Mindfulness and positive psychology underpin our approach to social and emotional wellbeing. We offer the Peaceful Kids program to some of our students at St. Patrick’s.
Courtyard Friends
Courtyard friends is a wonderful option for students who need a break from the playground. Located in the quiet and peaceful courtyard, students can take a break, relax and recharge in a safe and supervised environment. With a range of games and activities on offer, Courtyard friends provides a much-needed space for children who require a quieter, more peaceful setting during break times. This program promotes inclusivity and ensures all students have access to a positive and enjoyable school experience.
